Eric Stallings
Eric’s
love is teaching guitar. He has been playing guitar for over 30 years and
enjoys teaching guitar full time. He is gifted at teaching guitar in the
style the student enjoys and has the unique ability to have students
playing guitar well in a short period of time.
“One of the best ways to quickly develop
your ability to play the guitar is to cultivate a strong sense of timing
early on. When you show a student
how easy it is to make music by arranging a simple chord progression and
playing the chords within a basic rhythm structure, their confidence as a
musician quickly builds. They get
it. That is why I try to always
end each session with a good ten to fifteen minute jam. It’s the best way to sum up each
lesson, plus it’s fun.”
Eric’s influence dates back to the
early 60’s. He’s played the guitar
just about everyday since he was ten years old. His influences started with The Beatles
and The Rolling Stones and then moved from there to Duane Allman, Carlos
Santana, Steely Dan and of course, Eric Clapton. “One of the best things about teaching
is that I get a chance to learn new music everyday. In one lesson I’ll be teaching Nirvana,
in the next it will be Sheryl Crow or Green Day. I’ve got the best job in the world”.
